We speak to BLM Activists David Shontz & Charlie Lindahl, two white men in The Woodlands, Texas, who explain the reason for their commitment.
White BLM activists in The Woodlands speak
Two community activists, David Shontz and Charlie Lindahl, visited with Politics Done Right to discuss a Black Lives Matter Rally that has been in effect for over a year. Charlie told me about the group of activists that have been out there for some time as he suggested that I attend.
The groups is a part of the Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Church’s justice mission.

Northwoods Vision Statement:
We will be a place of transformation. We will transform our community through intentional inclusion, becoming stronger in our diversity. We will transform our world into a kind, humane and just place through our work outside these walls. We will ourselves be transformed by the work we do, the love we show to each other, and the spiritual challenges we set for ourselves.
SEE Justice Forums
Join us every fourth Sunday of the month for SEE Justice updates from program leaders. Time is 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. These groups will meet in the “digital sanctuary,” using the same Zoom link we use for worship: https://zoom.us/my/northwoodsuu. (Meeting ID: 766 833 5778).
And this was the outcome of their last protest.
Black Lives Matter Protests
May 1 at 4:00 p.m.
Many thanks to the 17 people who came out on what turned out to be a very nice Saturday afternoon for our protest. This is Northwoods’ act of public witness—we show our support for oppressed people through taking a visible action. We get all kinds of responses, but mostly supportive. Were you busy that day? Maybe you won’t be on May 1 when we do this again. You won’t get the full benefit of participation by being with us “in spirit”. Be there in person and see what this is all about.
One of the reasons I wanted to speak to these two men is that the group of activists in that area that has been out there for weeks now are mostly white in a mostly white area of the Houston metropolitan region. They did not disappoint.
