Why Ashton P. Woods is challenging Shawn Thierry.
Ashton P. Woods was not happy that State Rep. Shawn Thierry decided to join Texas State Republicans in the Texas Legislature to pass an anti-trans bill. Thierry gave a lengthy explanation detailing why she allowed Republicans to tout bipartisanship on a bill that clear;y goes against democratic values and the Democratic Party.
The reality is that Thierry’s justification does not hold much water. Her concern would have been better addressed by speaking to those in her community who live with the issue, parents and subjects alike. But not once did she address those relevant to her community. She formed an alliance with an evil sect that would use her vote to imply Democratic support.
When a representative does not fulfill the will of the people, one must not just claim that government does not work. That infers that our representatives can govern independently of those who elect them. That must not be the case. And Ashton P. Woods decided to that he would do what must be done when a representative defies their constituents.
