Harvey Wasserman on A Deeper Look
Nearly four years ago, then-candidate Donald J. Trump ran on a platform promising to make America Great Again. The question for voters this November is, has Trump made America Great again?
No matter how you define, greatness Trump had failed to make America more than it was before he took office. Just 39 days from the election, Trump presides over an administration perceived as one of the most corrupt in American history.
Under Trump’s watch, seven million Americans have contracted Covid 19, and nearly 210,000 have died. The American response to Coronavirus has been so inept that most of the world has banned travelers that hold an American passport from crossing their borders. Americans are isolated from each other and the rest of the world.
The Centers for Disease Control reports that more than 100,000 health professionals have contracted Covid 19, and 641 have died. Our heroes have stood in the face of this deadly disease and fought to keep us all safe despite not getting the support they deserve.
How long will our doctors and nurses put their lives on the line to protect us when many of us refuse to protect them by simply wearing a mask?
Millions of Americans have been left unemployed or underemployed by this endless pandemic which shows no signs of abating, despite Trump’s assertions to the contrary.
IS AMERICA GREAT AGAIN?
I would submit that whatever yardstick you use, America falls short of the greatness she enjoyed before the rein of The Donald.
