Many times we talk about policies in the abstract not realizing that in fact, they are impactful in the everyday lives of millions of Americans. Healthcare policy at some point will affect every single American.
Alycia Ramirez unfortunately saw this first hand. Their health insurance situation or lack thereof was real. Her mother-in-law care was directly proportional to her ability to pay or get help outside of the health insurance system. Getting sicker afforded her no level of compassion in our system. If you cannot pay or you are not lucky to get outside assistance, you die.
