- Sanders Report Exposes How Nonprofit Hospitals Exploit Tax Breaks, Fail Poor Patients: Nonprofit U.S. hospitals are legally required to provide affordable medical care for low-income patients, but many are failing to do so while taking advantage of major tax benefits and enriching executives, according to a report released Tuesday by Sen.
