Mondale Robinson, Enfield, NC Mayor & Founder of the Black Male Voter Project, nails it.

Mondale Robinson, Mayor of Enfield, NC, and Founder of the Black Male Voter Project.

My good friend Mondale Robinson sat once again to talk about the voting realities of Americans and black men in particular. He did not mince his words as he told some inconvenient truths.

Mondale Robinson did not disappoint.

Watch Politics Done Right T.V. here.

Netroots Nation is the country’s largest Progressive conference. Over 3,000 Progressive activists, writers, bloggers, politicians, and organizations meet to learn and strategize for the movement.

Mondale Robinson never disappoints. He always knows what he wants to say with the necessary gravity. We missed our follow-up interview at last year’s Netroots Nation in Pittsburg. We did not this time. And his narrative was spot on.

Mondale pointed out that there are reasons why special attention must be taken to win the black vote. Mondale did not apologize for centralizing black men. When asked if he was playing identity politics, he pushed back. Identity politics will remain in force until one’s access to success is not dependent on one’s identity. While many strides have been made, identity still plays an important role.

Mondale’s group is intentional in engaging rural, urban, suburban, and exurban black men. He said that many forget that rural areas in the South have large untapped black voters. Mondale becoming the mayor of Enfield, NC, is proof that engaged voters can change the course of the status quo in America.

Mondale is always engaging with a healthy dose of positivity. Watch the entire interview. One is bound to learn from it as I did.
