Renowned Houston Political Activist Neil Aquino visited to discuss his new Houston Democracy Project. More importantly, he wanted to discuss the relationship between the grassroots and our politics and more.
Neil Aquino introduces his Houston Democracy Project
Neil Aquino made it clear that we must be active on the local level, and in that light, he started the Houston Democracy Project. He said that a big part of the Houston Democracy Project is changing the culture of Houston city elections. Changing how rank and file Houston voters approach the issues and approach candidates. Aquino said that The Houston Democracy Project will be considering different ways of thinking about Houston city elections in 2023 and beyond.
We also discussed the dire straits that many independent activists are in because of the lack of funding from the rank and file. Too much money is given to politicians who do little and not to activists who leverage every dollar more so than any politician.
