Dr. William Moravits is a former police officer turned academic. He was a political science professor at various colleges in Texas. For three years, he was a police officer for the City of San Marcos, Texas, having graduated Top Cadet from the Basic Training Academy of the University of Texas at Austin. He holds a master of arts in political science from Texas State University and a Ph.D. in public policy and administration from Walden University. He is a native of Uvalde, Texas.

Moravits first appeared on Politics Done Right (PDR) to discuss his book  The Blue Divide: Policing and Race in America. He speaks from a cop’s perspective. While I think he has the empathy I find lacking in too many cops, IMHO, he is still influenced by stats that are colored by prejudice. I think he agreed with some of my points then that some data that justify the tenet many cops use in their defense is tainted.

One of the colleges was not thrilled with Dr. Moravits’ interview after a faculty member read it at the DailyKOS then and put him on notice to be careful with what he had to say. He continued being an honest Conservative professor that entertained dialogue from all sides.

Moravits appeared once again on PDR, this time after being fired from one of his colleges. He said he was falsely accused of a statement about trans that he did not make. Even with witnesses that spoke to the contrary, he was still fired. He believes that he is a victim of the cancel culture.

Listen to the entire interview. I do not believe in cancel culture from any point of view. While I may disagree with Conservatives like William, I want his views in our ethos. That is how we maintain a vibrant society with real discourse.
