Andrew Schmookler made an attempt to rationalize why America has allowed shallowness to rein. My contention is that our society created an environment where we do not encourage critical thinking. As such external forces, Schmookler generally refers to as the gangster, have undue influence on too many.

When one has lost the ability to think critically, our gangsters control shallow minds. Dr. Schmookler has great ideas to bend the curve encouraging change from those who are willing to listen. He did make a statement that was a bit concerning. He said he expects people to communicate on his turf. And yes, some people will. But most likely won’t. I expressed that it is important that we go meet people where they are.

I believe it is imperative that we realize that we did not become a shallow nation controlled by gangsters (those who run our economic and political systems) overnight. It was a planned indoctrination, with its second genesis being the Powell Memo. As such, we must invest the time and patience for real change.
