In 2012 Dr. Andy Schmookler, the Democratic nominee, challenged incumbent Republican nominee Bob Goodlatte. He described what he called “a moral crisis in America” that has manifested principally in the arena of political power.
Eleven years later, Dr. Schmookler is still, with his voice and writings, continues trying to nudge the moral fiber of America. His series, “A Better Human Story,” which we are covering at Politics Done Right, is the instantiation of his work.
Andy discusses his 2012 candidacy as well as the state of the Republican Party. It is clear that he sees that party as a clear and present danger that is driving the country to fascism.
While there is debate about whether the Republican Party has changed or is living up to what it has always been. The two are not mutually exclusive, as the party has always comprised several factions. Schmookler writings go beyond the Republican Party but analysis humanity in a manner researchers really do.
