I interviewed Robert Reich several years ago when he released his book Aftershock. Unfortunately, things have gotten much worse since.
Robert Reich: Aftershock’s relevance remains.
On September 20th, 2011, I interviewed President Clinton’s former Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich. He discussed his book “Aftershock: The Next Economy and America’s Future.”
As I watched the current state of our economy, I recalled our chat in detail. Sadly, none of the advice given was executed by the subsequent congresses. Income inequality and wealth disparity has gotten worse.
Over the last several months, as the COVID pandemic has eased due to vaccines and herd immunity, our KPFT 90.1 studios have been open for live programming. I am doing Politics Done Right live at noon on Central Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays. I continue to get a few calls that show the success of the Powell Memo. Their illogic continues to amaze me. They believe healthcare for all is too expensive even though, in the aggregate, it is much cheaper and covers everyone. They think we can’t afford family leave and many other families assisting programs, yet they fail to see that the results from their absence are far more expensive to the country.
I could go on and on. As I will continue to repeat ad-nauseam, the problem is that our corporate-controlled media uses its platform to give voices to those who mislead and provide disinformation.
The importance of sharing our message through independent media cannot be underestimated. It is the only form where citizens can demand the truth because they directly support it.
Please listen to the entire Reich interview. You will find it revealing and very relevant today.
