Republicans say they’ll hold the USA hostage, cutting Social Security & more. Alex Lawson explains.

Social Security & Medicare

The Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy believes he will be the next Speaker of the House of Representatives. It has emboldened him. He is telegraphing the hostage-taking he intends to inflict on Americans to cut Social Security and Medicare to continue gutting the government to give tax cuts to GOP funders.

Most Americans would not elect politicians who they believe will jeopardize their Social Security (SS) and Medicare. Republicans and neo-liberals inflict their middle-class thievery in very esoteric manners. They are attempting completely privatize Medicare with Medicare Advantage, enslaving Americans with the same tactics as our private health insurance. The difference is that the government gives our monies to private health insurance companies to maximize their profits.

Rest assured that Kevin McCarthy and his MAGA Republican cabal will so cripple Social Security so that attempting to sell Americans on privatization will become an option.

The executive director of SSWAlex Lawson, joins us to discuss the danger that electing a Republican majority will inflict on Social Security and Medicare Recipients. This, in addition to the survival of our democracy, is at stake.

It started with Senator Rick Scott, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), whose plan would bring SS up for a vote every five years. Then Senator Ron Johnson floated every year. And, of course, now Kevin McCarthy intends to hold SS and Medicare hostage to raise the debt ceiling.

According to former Republican Party chair Michael Steele, one should take Republicans at their word.

“They’ve been telling us for months what they’re going to do,” Michael Steele said. “They’re going to do exactly what Kevin just said.”

Many are fed up with inflation and crime and believe just kicking the bums out is the answer. Understanding the power that Republicans have to obstruct is essential. Our derelict media is a poor source of objective reporting. Just like Republican and neoliberal policies are responsible for our increased crime rate, so is the increased inflation, which is no more than corporate price gouging by companies that support them.

Voting this election cycle is crucial. Republicans must not be elected if we want to preserve our freedom, Medicare, Social Security, and a fair system for all Americans. Please share this newsletter and encourage your entire sphere of influence to vote Democratic to save the country.
