It was inspiring speaking to a public servant who believes that government works when good people serve in the government. County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth is the Texas’ current Harris County Clerk. She is running for a second term.

Many Republican politicians talk about the government as bad. They don’t believe that the government, we the people, does good or is immensely necessary. Ironically, for a system they don’t believe in, they always want to run it.

Politicians who do not believe in the government would do well to stay out of it as it is they who make the government less than optimal or effective.

Teneshia Hudspeth is a great example of a person who believes in good government. She is a living example of making government work and bringing it directly to the people. Listen/watch her story and all that she changed as county clerk to make the office more functional for her constituents.

Who is Teneshia Hudspeth

Teneshia has been with the County Clerk’s office for more than 16 years and has served under four County Clerks. She began her career as a Mickey Leland Congressional Intern and went on to work in the County Clerk’s Office as the Public Affairs Administrative Assistant and six positions later was elected Harris County Clerk.

Clerk Hudspeth earned her degree in Communications at Texas Southern University. She is also a graduate of the Leadership Houston (Class 34) and the Women’s Campaign School at Yale University.  Clerk Hudspeth is currently the 1st Vice President of the Houston Chapter of Women Professionals in Government and Serves as 2nd Vice President for the Executive Board of the International Association of Government Officials; however, these are only a few of the many community organizations she supports.  Clerk Hudspeth’s innate desire to serve the community through volunteer work and leadership positions has taught her that service to the community is not a chore but a way of life.

As County Clerk, her primary goal is to provide the public with quality customer service. She is committed to improving government services through new technology to make them readily available and accessible.
