The new general manager of Free Speech TV, Rafael Espinoza, visited PDR to discuss the direction of Free Speech TV.
Free Speech TV’s new manager, Rafael Espinoza, speaks.
I am an avid supporter of Free Speech TV’s job for the Progressive movement. I know many of their regulars, including Thom Hartmann, Rick Smith, and others.
I recently attended the Netroots Nation 2022 conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I met the station’s new General Manager. Rafael Espinoza left corporate media to do the necessary work the movement needed. While some may see this as altruistic, an activist sees it as required. When one listens to Mr. Espinoza, that rings true immediately.
Espinoza did environmental work protecting the environment against oil & gas corporations. He said that the Free Speech TV job found him.
“This was a fusion of my experience in the nonprofit advocacy space and working in commercial media,” Rafael Espinoza said. “Now working in nonprofit, noncommercial public interest media.”
Espinoza said his goal goes beyond bringing diversity to Free Speech TV. He is enhancing digital media and much more. Above and beyond, he wants to extend the station’s reach.
Listen to the entire interview. I am sure you will find it as enlightening as I did. It is imperative that Espinoza and his team succeed in broadening the scope of their broadcast and talent.
