Vic Uzumeri, a citizen who lived under both Canadian & American healthcare, candid comparison

Vic Uzumeri has lived under both the Canadian & American healthcare systems. A recent event with his wife proved the superiority of one.

Vic Uzumeri got the correct answer, Canada wins.

Vic Uzumeri is a regular at Netroots Nation. This year he had a story to tell that I thought was extremely important for all to understand. Earlier, the founder, publisher, and editor at OpEdNews, Rob Kall, spoke to me about the power of stories. We agreed that it is the best way to let people see themselves in the plight of others or, at worst, to empathize with others.

Vic worked for a University in the United States, where he was afforded some of the best health insurance in the U.S. He and his wife received all the care he needed. Of course, it came with a cost he could afford. He had his deductibles and co-pays to meet, but that would not be a problem.

Uzumeri took early retirement. Whereas, for most, early retirement means much higher health insurance costs until one reaches Medicare age, currently 65. But Vic had no problems. He and his wife are dual citizens of the United States and Canada.

As soon as he crossed the border and got an apartment, he had Canadian Government provided insurance. No American currently has peace of mind as our system costs much more than the Canadian system, with outcomes at the bottom of all OECD countries.

The United States rank first in the OECD for health care expenditure, but last for coverage.
Health price levels contribute the most to explaining higher spending in the United States, and recent price dynamics largely explain declines in health expenditure growth.

Recently, Vic’s wife had a severe illness. She is recovering after the Canadian system provided her with integrated medicine and care only the wealthy get in the United States. There is one statement in the interview that took me completely aback. Vic Uzumeri said that the conversation never turns to money when dealing with healthcare.

Vic did not want to criticize the American system profoundly. He did not need to do so. In describing the system he is living under now, the barbaric fraudulent nature of the American healthcare system rang as loud as possible. Will America ever wake up to the indoctrination perpetrated by those profiting from our failed system? If I have anything to do about it, they will. We are going to tell these stories and keep people informed.

Visit Vic’s website for some intriguing ideas and projects. Please listen to the entire interview. I am sure you will find it enlightening.
