Rep. Ilhan Omar was clear that immigrants like her have proven their loyalty to America & democracy, which exceeds that of many who profess it.
Ilhan Omar speaks to Politics Done Right.
It was a very long day at Netroots Nation 2022. After interviewing more than a dozen people and getting interviewed three times, I was ready for a break. I went to the party on the terrace of the Pittsburgh convention center to get a coke and hang out with a few friends.
I was unaware that Congresswoman Ilhan Omar would speak at the party. I missed her at Netroots Nation 2019 as she had to rush to a plane right after her MSNBC interview. I decided not to wait. I saw her husband and approached him to see if he would facilitate an interview.
“Who are you with,” Ilhan Omar’s husband asked, seeming a bit concerned.
I told him I was a blogger & radio host on Pacifica Network. I also told him many of my articles had her back. He called out to her assistant and said to him that when she was done taking some pictures with her supporters to bring her to a quiet location with me.
I was tired, and I am sure she was after a very active day, so I wanted to be mindful of her time. I had many questions, but I broke them down to three.
I asked Omar about the irony of those questioning her loyalty to America becoming the actual dangerous ones to America. I asked her to speak to the Right-Wing portion of our audience. And I asked about her feelings about Democrats holding on to the House of Representatives. She answered every one without hesitation.
