Yvette Simpson & Christopher Scott of Democracy for America made it clear. Democrats will win it all in the 2022 midterm if they lean into their values and successes.

Yvette Simpson & Christopher Scott gets it right.

If one watches mainstream media, the gloom and doom continue for the prospects for Democrats to hold on to the House of Representatives. Is it really a forgone conclusion that Democrats will lose in the 2022 midterms? Democracy For America‘s (DFA) Chief Executive, Officer Yvette Simpson, and Chief Political Officer Christopher Scott do not believe that.

Simpson ridiculed those pundits and hosts who believe that history will determine the outcome of the 2022 midterms.

“You are talking about a whole new electorate that has not even been considered,” Yvette Simpson said. “So we are engaging those folks who may not have been ready to vote in 1992, who might be 45, 50 years old. We are talking about engaging a new generation with folks who are upset with the status quo. And they are motivated, and they are going to show up. And I love that they are not capturing those people. That is how we get a sneak attack. They are saying, likely voters. But they don’t see the folks we are talking to who will show up and overwhelm them.”

Simpson pointed out what we have been talking about for some time. The likely voter model is likely wrong.

Christopher Scott said that DFA continues with its 50-state strategy using a people power approach to righten the ship for democracy. He said that after 18 years from its inception with the Dean campaign, DFA is powering the Progressive movement with big wins. He highlighted to young winners in Texas and beyond.

“We can’t lose,” said Christopher. “So much of the media wanted to write this election off at the start of the year. When you are looking at the momentum that is happening, you are looking at what happened in Kansas a few weeks ago, Democrats closing that enthusiasm gap and saying no, we still want these protections. We still want these freedoms. I think you are starting to see the base of the Democratic Party start to wake up and realize we have too much at stake in this election. And they are ready and motivated. And they are going to get out there and deliver.”

I could not agree more with Yvette and Christopher. The pundits and the mainstream media are stuck in their reality. The danger is that without a solid independent media and organizations like DFA, they could create a self-fulfilling prophecy. We must not let them do that.
