Conrad Shaw on Basic Income experiment update

I interviewed Conrad Shaw a few years ago when he embarked on the Basic Income experiment and Bootstraps docuseries. Well, he is back with some interesting results.

Shaw said that now that two years have passed since the UBI experiment came to a close, he and his wife Deia are gearing up for one final round-the-nation road trip to collect final thoughts from all of the Bootstrappers. They’re so curious to learn how they’re doing now and what the experience will have meant to them in hindsight, with so much going on in the world since they last filmed with them.

Also, after 6 years of filming, UBI-ing, editing, and surviving COVID, they’re finally pitching the series to networks and, hopefully soon, will find out where it’s going to live. Conrad said he will let us know when they get news but will cross their fingers until then! After it is picked up, it’ll probably take another 6 months to a year to finish editing and release. Conrad said he just watched their pitch video recently, and, as usual, it rocked. He laughed & wept. He said the stories need to be told, and it is hard to wait.

From Conrad Shaw:

Our sister project, called Comingle, is an online platform in development to bring a guaranteed income to anyone who wants it. The deeper we dig into the design process, the more we realize the more radical implications of just how powerful it could become as a tool for solidarity and people power.

Please listen to the entire interview. I am sure you will find it enlightening.
