He is an ex-cop turned professor and author. William Moravits has a message worth listening to about police, race, training, the law, and much more.
William Moravits, a cop worth listening to for a change.
Will Moravits is a professor of political science for Alamo Community Colleges and Texas State University. For three years, he was a police officer for the City of San Marcos, Texas, having graduated Top Cadet from the Basic Training Academy of University of Texas at Austin. He holds a master of arts in political science from Texas State University and a PhD in public policy and administration from Walden University. He is a native of Uvalde, Texas.
It was refreshing talking directly to this conservative ex-cop. My first intuition is that he is a good guy. I think he really wants to bridge the blue divide which is why he wrote The Blue Divide. I think you should buy his book and then contact him directly with your experience. He speaks from a cop’s perspective. While I think he has the empathy I find lacking in too many cops, IMHO he is still covered my stats that are colored by prejudice. I think he agreed with some of my points that some data out there that justify the tenet many cops use in their defense is tainted.
Listen to the entire interview. Those who listened to it live loved it and thought the dialogue was a good start.
