Primary Democratic Candidate for State Senate District 15 Molly Cook did not disappoint. She would be the necessary new voice for the district and Texas. (Sneak peek for subscriber/members – Public after it airs on KPFT 90.1 FM).
Molly Cook did not disappoint
Indivisible Houston’s president Daniel Cohen said that this was one of the most critical races in the state and the country. A Molly Cook win will show a generational transition sooner than expected.
Cook did not disappoint. Early in the interview, she laid out her grassroots organizing bona fides. She told us a little about her rearing in metropolitan Houston.
Cook lit up most whenever she spoke about grassroots engagement. It was not hard to figure out her passion for healthcare as a registered nurse. She believes that if one makes sure to educate the populace, they will make the correct choices. This young woman is ready to be a state Senator. We need more young people to follow her path.
Watch/listen to the entire interview. It is worth it.
Who is Molly Cook (from her site)
My name is Molly Cook, RN (she/her). I am an ER nurse, an organizer of my community, and an advocate for a more sustainable transportation future.
I am running to represent the people of Texas Senate District 15 as their state senator because I believe the challenges of the next legislative session are too important to leave in the hands of someone more focused on their next political office than their district.
Fixing our critical infrastructure, health care delivery reform, multi-billion dollar transportation decisions, and public safety all require singular focus and a new perspective. As an emergency nurse, I see how our legislative mistakes cost people their health, happiness, and sometimes their lives.
Complacent leaders making decisions in service of their own political preservation instead of the lived reality of their constituents is the reason our problems persist.
I have spent years organizing for equitable, sustainable transportation and development throughout Houston and Harris County. We will not see the changes Houston desperately needs until we change who is in power speaking on our behalf. I am ready to do what it takes to make those changes, and I am not afraid of a fight.
Texas Senate District 15 deserves a Senator that will work hard for progress, stand up against corruption and politicking, be fully transparent, and put themself on the line for our community.
We will not overcome the problems of tomorrow with yesterday’s leaders. We need a Senator with compassion, energy and a fresh take on persistent problems. I’m Molly Cook, and I’m running for Texas Senate District 15 because I believe I will be that Senator.
More
We must support grassroots candidates. Young grassroots activists-turned-politicians are our future. Our oligarchy, plutocracy, corporatocracy are investing in the status quo. They have virtually unlimited resources. Grassroots and the truth do not require unlimited resources. We need small contributions. Please visit her website and contribute if you can. We all want change.
