Jeff Reese details how insurance companies are screwing over his cancer treatments and care

It is, at best, insurance fraud. Jeff Reese, a cancer patient, fights to get his insurance to do its job. He has found it a painstakingly difficult task.

Jeff Reese will fight them

I called up Jeff Reese a few days ago. I had not heard from him and knew he was going through a few health issues. I did not realize the fight he was having with his insurance company to do its duties.

Jeff’s insurance company denied a necessary MRI to determine the location of tumors in his bone. After the appeal, they once again denied coverage. They subsequently approved a C.T. scan that does not see inside the bones. They approved chemo without another required medication. In effect, the insurance company has been giving him the runaround. This insurance company is playing by the GOP playbook that former Congressman Alan Grayson spoke about in a floor speech.

Using placards to underline his point, Grayson said Republicans understand that a health care plan based on not getting sick “isn’t always going to work,” so they “have a backup plan in case you do get sick.”

“If you get sick in America, this is what the Republicans want you to do: If you get sick America, the Republican health care plan is this: Die quickly,” he said. “That’s right, the Republicans want you to die quickly if you get sick.”

Jeff’s insurance company is Cigna. He points out that they have what he believes to be a subsidiary they use to do their dirty work deny coverage to deserving patients.

It is time for us to fight back, and that is what Jeff is doing.
