Daniel Cohen returned to Politics Done Right to discuss the #Election2022. He also had a political pet peeve he got off his chest entrenched establishment politicians. And he thinks Molly Cook is the template.
Daniel Cohen returns
Daniel Cohen is a prolific activist in Houston and the surrounding area and throughout the country. He is the president of Indivisible Houston. They have been part of many successes, including supporting the candidate that became the most powerful politician in Harris County, Texas, one of the largest counties in America. The Honorable Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo became the first Latina woman and youngest person to lead the county.
Cohen discussed many of the messaging problems that Democrats and Progressives exhibit. But he is clear that it is time to take out those politicians that are clearly in the game for self-service. In that light, he points out that there is a Texas State Senator Election that he wants to be seen as a national template.
Cohen believes that Texas State Senator John Whitmire is ripe for his proof-of-concept for Progressives to follow to get incumbents who he believes do not have the interests of their constituents at hand. He is supporting the Senator’s very credible opponent Molly Cook. She is an ER nurse on the front line. Her political website has a fascinating passage that all entrenched politicians who have become wards of the corporatocracy should heed.
Molly has watched her patients suffer and die because industry polluters are unchecked, our road designs are unsafe, and our state government lacks compassion for those who need it the most. Because of bad policy, people die.
It’s time for a bold leader willing to do whatever it takes to fix critical infrastructure to keep your heat on, get you the healthcare you deserve, and transport you safely to and from work. We need someone who isn’t afraid of a fight and isn’t distracted by corporate donors or their next office.
Daniel points out that, like most Establishment Politicians, the Senator is well funded. Molly Cook is an insurgent that he urges the grassroots to support in all avenues possible,
The reality is that to change our country requires a grassroots movement isolated from corporate control. And that is starting to occur around the country with candidates like Cori Bush, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Talib, Ayana Pressly, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and others.
