Former iReporter & political activist Cliff Olney turned his political activism into electoral politics. Call him councilman.
Councilman Cliff Olney
Cliff Olney is a good friend of mine and a former CNN iReport colleague. We used the CNN iReport platform to promote our activist messages on healthcare, taxes, and much more. Cliff was one of the most prolific iReporter. He knew he had to do something when his health insurance company canceled his policy after having a premature baby.
Olney did not stop there. He has subsequently run for office several times. Four times turned out to be the charm. Cliff is now Councilman Cliff Olney from Watertown, New York.
Olney’s website says it all.
The most important question is: What have our political parties done for us lately? The answer is several years of property tax increases and countless excuses for not getting things done. ‘Vision’ is an essential part of leadership. But these same politicians will be back to ask us for more time and our vote. Personally, I think it takes a lot of BS to do ‘nothing’ as well as they have.
When asked to do their JOB, politicians are the only employees in this country and city who look their bosses in their eyes, laugh at us and say, “Why don’t you do it yourself?”– And they get away with it. Enough is enough. Not this year. Not this time. Watertown has woken up. See you out there.
Listen to the entire interview. Olney did not disappoint.
