Allison Gaines discussed her organization Writers and Editors of Color. She explained why she formed it.

Allison is a writer, editor, activist, and scholar interested in Social Sciences. She introduces herself at her blog as follows.

My name is Allison. I write stories that lovingly critique societal norms. Feel free to check out my published articles and consider signing up for a once-a-month newsletter highlighting a few  noteworthy stories.

Last year, I created a digital publication,  Cultured.  As Editor in Chief, I  curate stories from social justice activists.  We aim to redefine culture through writing. Together, we’ve challenged the status quo using journalistic and personal essays. Drop in and you can also read some expressive poems.

Currently, we’re building our writing team. Cultured is looking for new writers with original stories to tell. Our writers can make money through the Medium Partner Program.

As an Activist, I engage in dialogues geared at bringing people together. Only by understanding the things that divide us can we come together in a meaningful way. Because I hold progressive values near and dear, I founded a Civil Rights Organization called Justice Can’t Wait.

As a freelance writer, I provide writing and editorial services. Would you like some help publishing a poem, a book, novella, or short story? You’ve come to the right place.  My clients can expect reliability and excellent quality.

I co-founded a collective called Writers and Editors of Color with Teressa Price.  Together, we’ve created a network that amplifies stories and provides mutually beneficial networking opportunities for members.  It’s our goal to ensure that Black people and POC have safe spaces to work together and discuss their experiences.

WEOC meets every Sunday at 12 PM EST. on the Clubhouse App.  We share tips and tricks on becoming a successful writer throughout the Medium universe and beyond. Drop in to hear our “Writing For Change” speaker series.  If you would like to become a guest, please contact me.

Listen to the entire interview. Gaines did not disappoint.
