Ayo visited our Civil Rights and Criminal Justice panel at the Houston Peace & Justice Center and amplified our message on race & economics.
Ayo, a wise beyond her years engaged high school student
The Houston Peace & Justice Center was conducting a panel titled “What’s Up – ¿¡Qué Pasa!?” It was a bilingual panel discussion on Civil Rights & criminal justice. We had a healthy discussion on the Poor People’s campaign, where a panelist discussed our economic state.
We would also spend some time discussing several voter rights issues. As we discussed race and economics, a comment drew the ears of Ayo, a High School student who was listening in on the panel. It turned out she had the most important statement on the panel. It went beyond her years.
Soon after, I asked her for a future interview. I wanted to get the perspective of a younger person. After all, the country will be theirs to run in the not-t00-distant future.
Would you please listen to the entire interview? I am sure you will find it enlightening.
