Neil Aquino points out that given the severity of Republican attacks on our Democracy, it warrants that Democrats are more activated.
Neil Aquino on our Democracy in danger
Recently Neil Aquino wrote the following prescient Facebook post all should read.
The Democratic Party establishment wins maybe 98% of party primaries for all offices, the party has not nominated an ideological outlier for President since George McGovern & the Democratic primary electorate chose Clinton in ‘92 and Biden in ‘20 because they were seen as moderates. But still, we’ve reached the point where the political system can’t even promise relatively free elections and the other side sees all of us as extreme and is headed towards violence.
I’ve got no interest in revisiting past ideological debates & that is not my point. It just seems clear Republicans cannot not appeased and we’d better all find a way to one another across the full ideological and demographic expanse of our side of the aisle and figure out some different way of doing things while we still have the chance to do so. I don’t mean electing certain folks as much as I mean us as rank-and-file figuring out how to have some hope of freedom in this country.
The objection from the right is the mainstream Democratic Party assertion of basic equality for all people.
