A stay-at-home mother of five children, Shannon Watts, created Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and she explains that every American can engage.
Shannon Watts knows organizing
Shannon Watts was the Houston Peace And Justice Center (HPJC) 2020 Annual Peacemaker Award recipient. Her acceptance speech was all inspiring and motivational.
She did not disappoint in our interview. She made it clear that one must not allow implied obstacles to demotivate from any action one deems essential. Listen to the entire interview as it is packed with everything an activist or organizer wants to hear.
Who is Shannon Watts?
Watts is a mother of five. Before founding Moms Demand Action, she was a stay-at-home mom and former communications executive.
The day after the Sandy Hook tragedy, Shannon started a Facebook group with the message that all Americans can and should do more to reduce gun violence. It turned into a grassroots movement to mitigate gun violence.
Moms Demand Action has established a chapter in every state of the country and is part of Everytown for Gun Safety. She is an active board member of Emerge America, one of the nation’s leading organizations recruiting and training women to run for office.
